Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:volcaniclastic grainstone
Secondary lithology:concretionary,volcaniclastic calcareous "shale"
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: "...confined to light-colored biosparites, with a slight tuffaceous admixture, overlying a sequence of tuffaceous shales with carbonate lenses and concretions..."
Environment:marine indet.
Geology comments: "...located even farther from the main volcanoclastic body than the Coral-Crinoid Community...Brachiopods are a significant component...We assign it to BA 3 because of its similar composition [vis a vis Hircinisca-Ancillotoechia Comm], as well as its overall similarity to BA 3 communities elsewhere [perhaps near BA 3/4 boundary]."
Taphonomy
Modes of preservation:body
Size of fossils:macrofossils
Collection methods and comments
Collection excludes:some macrofossils
Reason for describing collection:paleoecologic analysis
Collection method comments: Authors give abundance data (very rare, more frequent, frequent) for brachiopods. "Trilobites are rare. Other animal groups [besides trilobites and brachiopods] have not been studied."
