Upper assemblage at Key Point well, Isle Vanier (Devonian of Canada)

Where: Nunavut, Canada (76.2° N, 104.3° W: paleocoordinates 0.3° N, 20.9° W)

• coordinate stated in text

• small collection-level geographic resolution

When: Burnett Point (Parry Islands) Member (Upper Hecla Bay--Beverly Inlet--Parry Islands Formation), Frasnian (382.7 - 372.2 Ma)

• Genus list was not divided by formation, and it was impossible to seperate the geologies into individual collections.

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: fluvial; shale and sandstone

• Whiteley (1980, p.303): The uppermost two-fifths of the well (with which this study is concerned) predominantly represent braided and meandering fluvial facies and therein the spore assembalges are rich and diverse.
• Whiteley (1980, p.303): The interbedded quartzitic sandstones and dark shales of the Hecla Bay Formation are lithologically distict and the sandstone become increasingly conspicuous before thin carbonaceous shales and impersistent coals appear towards the top of the 866m thick formation. Green-gray shales with sandstone and coals are associated with a 97m thick development of purple-brown shales in the overlying Beverley Inlet Formation and the yougest rock unit represented is a green-gray shale and sandstone sequence, probably the basal Burnett Point Member of the Parry Islands Formation.

Size class: microfossils

Collection methods: core, chemical,

• This collection includes samples 6-20.
