• According to associated spore, pollen, and plant assemblages, the Changchang Formation is dated as early Eocene-early late Eocene (Lei et al., 1992)

Environment/lithology: mire or swamp; mudstone

• Fossils have been recovered from the ChangChang Formation (coal-bearing series), which is composed of dark colored lake-swamp sediments.
