Taphonomy
Modes of preservation:body,original sporopollenin
Size of fossils:microfossils
Collection methods and comments
Collection methods:chemical
Reason for describing collection:taxonomic analysis
Collection method comments: Locality described as "from the Tico Amphitheater, Santa Cruz Province, Argentina" and "The microfossils occur near the base of the formation, in the lowermost of several fossiliferous zones (p.73)." This locality is likely equivalent to "NF basal" of Archangelsky and Villar de Seoane (1990) and following the rules, is so entered with Taylor and Taylor (1988) as the primary reference, even if it is less specific than the later. For Archangelsky and Villar de Seoane (1991), they state "Las megasporas fueron recuperadas de tobas organogenas presentes en la base de la Formacion Baquerro, en la localidad Fnfiteatro de Tico, muy cerca del nivel fosilifero Ticoa harrisii (Archangelsky, 1967, Mapa 2, punto fosilifero 1)" (p.353). Since it is definitely NOT from NF Ticoa harrisii, I placed these fossils in NF Basal as well.
