Stratigraphy comments: The Upper Triassic strata in the White Lakes-Lamy area have been assigned to either the Upper Triassic Dockum Group of eastern New Mexico and vicinity in western Texas (Dane and Bachman 1965) or the Upper Triassic Chinle Formation (Johnson 1973)... Lucas (1991) assigned fossil bearing strata in the White Lakes-Lamy area to the Carita Creek Formation (Late Triassic); equivalent to the Petrified Forest Member of the Chinle Formation (Lucas & Hunt 1989).
