Lithology and environment
| Primary lithology: | massive lithified conglomeratic "limestone" |
| Lithology description: massive limestone conglomerate (pink) | |
| Environment: | slope/ramp reef |
| Geology comments: Limestone conglomerate intercalated with thin lenticular beds of tuffaceous shale and sandstone. The limestone conglomerate yields abundant corals with various other fossils, such as stromatoporoids, crinoids, bryozoans, and gastropods. Kido and Sugiyama (2007a) suggested that the limestone conglomerate of the Middle Member might have derived from shallow-water reehrl limestone, and was transported and deposited as the result of a debris flow or storm
action on a reef slope or along a reef front. | |
