| Stratigraphy comments: YM-G-100206 was found by KF on April 29, 2013 in situ from the Jinnobaru Formation, Ashiya Group (Rupelian, latest Early Oligocene, ca. 29 Ma) at Hikoshima, Shimonoseki-City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. Hikoshima Islands in the Kanmon strait, such as Ainoshima island and Umashima island, and the northern part of Kyushu area have yielded many plotopterid specimens, including the type specimens of C. hexeris, Copepteryx titan, and other reported specimens (Hasegawa et al., 1979; Olson & Hasegawa, 1996; Kameya, Fukata & Hasegawa, 2001; Kawano & Kawano, 2001; Okazaki, 2009). Those areas comprise Oligocene strata, and invertebrate and vertebrate fossils have been found there (Tomita & Ishibashi, 1990; Okamoto & Sakai, 1995; Tomita & Oji, 2010; Okazaki, 2012; Fukata et al., 2014). | |||||
