Stratigraphy
Stratigraphy comments: The nodule that yielded the Tappu specimen contains the ammonoids Gaudryceras denseplicatum (Jimbo, 1894), Tetragonites glabrus (Jimbo, 1894), and Scalarites scalaris (Yabe, 1904). S. scalaris is common in the middle Turonian of Hokkaido and Sakhalin (Wright and Matsumoto, 1954; Matsumoto, 1977); accordingly, this nodule was presumably derived from the middle Turonian.
