Stratigraphy comments: Lowermost Kanzawa Formation, Nakatsu superformation (now group). The Kanzawa Formation assigned an age of 2.9->2.5 Ma in Nishimura et al. (2012) and 2.9-1.9 Ma by Aiba et al. (2010). Both suggest that the Kosawa-Kanzawa formation contact is late Piacenzian.
