| Stratigraphy comments: Toyohama Forma- tion, Morozaki Group, lower Miocene, Burdigalian. The Toyohama Formation is correlated with the magnetic polarity zone C5Dr (18.056–17.533 Ma: Hilgen et al., 2012) (Hayashida, 1986; Ito et al., 1999). The Morozaki Group consists of Himaka, Toyohama, Yamami, and Utsumi Formations in ascending stratigraphic order (Kondo and Kimura, 1987). The holotype was found in the middle part of the Toyohama Formation (CERG, 1993). The Toyohama Formation is composed mainly of tuffaceous mudstone (Shibata, 1977). | |||||
