San Pietro Al Tanagro, CE1 assemblage (Cretaceous to of Italy)

Where: Italy (40.5° N, 15.5° E: paleocoordinates 22.8° N, 14.0° E)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Early/Lower Cenomanian to Early/Lower Cenomanian (99.6 - 93.5 Ma)

• member-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; lithified floatstone

• 100 m thick carbonate sedimentary succession, composed of shallow water limstones rich in molluscs. The basal and middle portion of the succession (70 m thick) shows a lithobiofacies association characterized by grain-supported bioclastic limestones whose constituents are essentially mollusc fragments, organized in layers of variable thickness comprised between 50 cm to a few meters. Basal erosive surface and granular gradation characterize some strata.

Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils
