• This fossil association suggests that the Castle Hayne Limestone was deposited on a distal inner middle shelf (30–100 m water depth) in a subtropical to warm temperate climate setting.
• The Castle Hayne Limestone is dominated by bryozoan-echinoderm grainstone ⁄ packstone.
