Winecup Ranch (NMMNH P-66225) (Triassic of the United States)

Where: Elko County, Nevada (41.4° N, 114.7° W)

• Paleocoordinates: 25.7° N, 34.5° W (Wright 2013)

• coordinate stated in text

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Thaynes Group, Smithian (249.9 - 248.1 Ma)

• Conodonts or ammonoids have not been detected in the matrix surrounding P-66225, but a similar age as P-77117 is likely. P-77117 was found at the most prolific ammonoid locality together with Pseudaspidites, Procurvoceratites, proptychitid indet., and prionitid indet., which, combined with I. oweni, indicate a late early Smithian to early late Smithian age.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; lithified limestone

• Organic-rich, unbioturbated, alternating thin-bedded limestone and shale

Size class: macrofossils

Reposited in the NMMNH
