When: Nanao Member (Akaura Formation), Langhian (16.0 - 13.8 Ma)

• "Nanao beds", now Nanao member of Akaura Formation. Glauconitic beds overlying the Akaura Formation have a maximum age of 14.8-14.5 Ma, based on diatom Denticulopsis hyalina (Hamada, 1996). Nanao calcareous sandstone is given a middle Miocene age (Fuji, 1969).
