Set II, Trench Z-17, near Debnik, Holy Cross Mountains, Poland (Devonian of Poland)

Where: Poland (51.0° N, 19.0° E)

• Paleocoordinates: 24.6° S, 11.8° E (Wright 2013)

• coordinate based on political unit

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Early/Lower Famennian (372.1 - 368.5 Ma)

• This is earliest Famennian.

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; shelly/skeletal lime mudstone and limestone

• "Devonian strata of the Debnik anticline (Cracow Region,

•southern Poland) were deposited in the proximal part of the

•PolisKWM/pasin trending NW–SE (Fig. 1). The

•basin was bordered from the north and east by the Byelo-

•russian Land (southwestern margin of the East European

•Craton), from the west by the Variscan Deformation Front,

•and from the south by the Moravian Karst and Sub-Carpa-

•thian Arch (Dadlez et al. 1994; Narkiewicz 1985, 1996;

•Narkiewicz and Hoffman 1989; Racki and Balin•ski 1998).

•The Devonian sequence of carbonates in the De•bnik area was

•deposited near the Sub-Carpathian Arch along the southern

•margin of the cratonic basin. Today these strata are usually

•poorly exposed in a small area centered around the village of

•Debnik."

• Stratigraphic section indicates micritic limestone with shelly intercalations and nodules; and detrital limestones for this set of beds.
