Where: Cataluña, Spain (42.2° N, 1.0° E: paleocoordinates 34.2° N, 0.8° E)

When: La Posa Formation (Tremp Group), Late/Upper Maastrichtian (70.6 - 66.0 Ma)

• G. aegyptiacus zone; c. 10 m above the contact of the Tremp Formation with the Aren Sandstone (Unit 1)

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; gypsiferous, gray marl

• "a grey marl rich in gypsum crystals...The gypsiferous bed intercalates with coal-bearing grey marls, limestones and shell beds (mainly consisting of remains of the snail Melanoides and the clam Cyrena)."
