• member-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: deep subtidal ramp; lithified, gypsiferous, shelly/skeletal, cherty/siliceous packstone and lithified, gypsiferous shale

• In general, the Muldraugh Member of the Borden Formation has lenticular bedding, with the base of beds irregular and erosional with pinch and swell mainly on the upper surface of beds. Few beds or bedding surfaces are traceable throughout the entire quarry. Bedding thickness varies from a few centimeters to more than 75 centimeters. Lithologically, the most abundant carbonate rock type is an argillaceous, coarse-grained crinoidal packstone, but finer grained packstones, grainstones, calcareous siltstones, and shales are also present. Sedimentary structures include megaripples, cross-bedding, and graded bedding. Silicification is very common; and large (up to 20 cm) gypsum nodules, some gypsum layers, and gypsum fracture fillings are also present. Some beds are bioturbated, with identified trace fossils being Chondrites and Zoophycos.

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: original calcite

Reposited in the USNM
