Mrassiella was named by Ragozin (1935) [Sepkoski's age data: C u P l]. Its type is Mrassiella magniforma.

It was reranked as Anthraconauta (Mrassiella) by Cox et al. (1969).

It was assigned to Anthraconauta by Cox et al. (1969); to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Kinerkaellinae by Silantiev (2018).
