Pecten keyserlingiformis was named by Licharew (1927).

It was recombined as Aviculopecten keyserlingiformis by Muromtseva and Guskov (1984); it was recombined as Etheripecten keyserlingiformis by Nakazawa (1999); it was recombined as Neptunopecten keyserlingiformis by Biakov (2019).
