Where: Rift Valley, Kenya (4.1° N, 35.7° E: paleocoordinates 4.0° N, 35.5° E)

When: Kaitio Member (Nachukui Formation), Late/Upper Pliocene to Late/Upper Pliocene (3.6 - 0.8 Ma)

• ETE dating method: absolute, ETE age comment: between Malbe Tuff (1.86 +/- 0.02) & Lower Koobi Fora Tuff (=Okote Tuff; 1.64 +/- 0.03); Malbe Tuff also dated by Ar/Ar

Environment/lithology: fluvial-lacustrine; siltstone

• ETE sed env 1: fluv_lacustr, ETE sed env 2: . ETE event: ., ETE env comment: southern part of Kaitio outcrop, near lake margin

• ETE rock type adj: laminated, ETE lithology comments: also clay and fine sand; see Kaitio Fauna
