Eucalyptocrinites ornatus-Carbonate Mound Comm., Racine and Wabash Formations (Silurian to of the United States)

Where: Illinois (42.0° N, 88.0° W: paleocoordinates 25.1° S, 50.8° W)

• coordinate based on political unit

• basin-level geographic resolution

When: Wenlock to Wenlock (433.4 - 423.0 Ma)

Environment/lithology: deep subtidal; dolomitic, shelly/skeletal packstone and dolomitic, shelly/skeletal grainstone

• Crinods generally lack stem and arms. Deposits often debris wedges on flanks of large carbonate mud mound cores. "This is a BA 3 fauna that evidently was subject to occasional disturbance, i.e., below fair weather wave base but not storm wave base, and not subject to regular current winnowing."
• "generally a porous, noncherty (except near transition to intermound facies), inclined-bedded, occasionally pyritic crinoid moldic or crinoid replaced dolopackstone: similar dolograinstones present occasionally"
