Environment/lithology: lithified shale and lithified sandstone

• Beds of shales and sandstones, some of which are rich in plants. Some layers contain large, unidentifiable axes, others contain taxa common to the Evieux flora.

• Certain taxa are located only in a particular bed or place; e.g. Archaeopteris roemeriana is only found to the right side, north of the trench. Rhacophyton condrusorum is present on both sides, but in different beds. Sphenocyclopteridium is only found on the right side, at the same place as Rhacophyton condrusorum, Sphenopteris modavensis and numerous fish remains.
