• 20 m thick. [JA: originally entered as Emsian; Polygnathus inversus and P. serotinus are present in the lowest unit of the "Sipaian Stage" (probably this formation), so it is late Emsian]

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; lithified, black, gray, argillaceous, calcareous shale and limestone

• dark-gray to black shale intercalated with a few marly beds and argillaceous limestone.
