Where: Craven County, North Carolina (35.1° N, 77.0° W: paleocoordinates 34.9° N, 68.9° W)
• coordinate based on political unit
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: New Bern Formation, Priabonian (38.0 - 33.9 Ma)
• "New Bern Formation" of Powell & Baum, 1982. Crassatella alta/Chlamys cawcawensis bivalve or Periarchus lyelli echinoid zone. Spring Garden member is latest Claibornian (latest middle Eocene) according to Weaver& Ciampaglio (2003). PJW: I switched this to New Bern. I also changed it to Priabonian from Bartonian. The upper part of the Crassatella alta - Chlamys cawcawensis zone is Priabonian, so this is not inconsistent with the original paper.
• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution
