• According to Stainbrook (1950) the McCraney is correlative with the Louisiana Limestone, below the Glen Park and Hannibal strata, thus it falls into the Hastarian.

Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; lithified, dolomitic, silty lime mudstone

• limestone consists of thin beds of lithographic limestone and fine grained dolomite. the soft material between beds probably includes shaly partings and weathered limestone.
