Onondaga Formation, Kingston (Devonian of the United States)

Where: New York (42.0° N, 74.0° W: paleocoordinates 40.2° S, 21.7° W)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Moorehouse Member (Onondaga Formation), Eifelian (393.3 - 387.7 Ma)

• Atrypa-Coelospira-Nucleospira community

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: deep subtidal shelf; lithified, gray, argillaceous limestone

• Seems like tempestite deposition, but get verification. Too shallow?; "Mid-neritic"; "Moderately argillaceous"; "Soft-substrate"; just below, but "near wave-base", with mild current activity
• Moderately to highly argillaceous, medium gray, medium to fine-grained limestone (mudstones and wackestones) with dark-weathering chert seams

Size classes: macrofossils, mesofossils

Reposited in the AMNH

• Atrypa-Coelospira-Nucleospira community
