Where: Neuquén, Argentina (38.9° S, 69.6° W: paleocoordinates 39.7° S, 64.1° W)
• coordinate stated in text
• outcrop-level geographic resolution
When: Cerro Bandera Formation, Colhuehuapian (21.0 - 17.5 Ma)
• Kramarz and Paz 2013: lower layers of the Cerro Bandera outcrop formation. All these deposits have been assigned to the Colhuehuapense Mammal Age (early Miocene) (Vucetich et al., 2010), although recently Kramarz et al. (2011) suggested that the mammal-bearing deposits of the Cerro Bandera Formation outcropping in the Barda Negra de Neuquén could be somewhat older than those of Bryn Gwyn and Paso Córdova
• formation-level stratigraphic resolution
Environment/lithology: terrestrial; tuffaceous volcaniclastic sediments
Size class: macrofossils
