Type specimens:

  • Chisternon undatum: ANSP 10040, a partial shell (plastron lacking the anterior portion of the anterior lobe). Its type locality is A few miles from Fort Bridger, which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in the Bridger Formation of Wyoming.
  • Baena gigantea: CM 3441, a shell. Its type locality is Wagonhound Canyon (Uinta B2), which is in an Uintan terrestrial horizon in the Uinta Formation of Utah.
  • Baena hebraica: USNM 2275, a partial shell (two-thirds of the anterior portion of the carapace and the plastron). Its type locality is Cottonwood Creek badlands (Bridger B), which is in a Bridgerian terrestrial horizon in Wyoming.
