Type specimen: USNM PAL 770102, a mandible (tooth-bearing left dentary missing its anterior end and parts of its posteroventral wall). Its type locality is Tomahawk locality, USNM 39981, which is in a Carnian lacustrine - small mudstone in the Vinita Formation of Virginia.
