Type specimen: SAM-PK 5822, a partial skeleton (Skull and various postcrania). Its type locality is Picnic Bush, Swartkops River, which is in a Valanginian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Sundays River Formation of South Africa.

Ecology: aquatic carnivore

Distribution: found only at Picnic Bush, Swartkops River
