Type specimens:
- Hyperodapedon huxleyi: GSI 281/1a (lectotype, designated by Chatterjee, 1974), a maxilla (right maxillary tooth plate). Its type locality is Maleri village (GSI), which is in a Carnian/Norian fluvial claystone in the Lower Maleri Formation of India.
- Paradapedon indicus: Its type locality is Maleri village (GSI), which is in a Carnian/Norian fluvial claystone in the Lower Maleri Formation of India.
