Sister taxa: Rhizophyllum bohemicum, Rhizophyllum compositum
Type specimen: 58314 (section). Its type locality is Loc. 22. Warrigal Bend, Mitchell River National Park, which is in a Pragian marine siltstone/claystone in the Tabberabbera Formation of Australia.
