Belongs to Peltosaurus according to B. H. Brattstrom 1955
Sister taxa: Peltosaurus floridanus, Peltosaurus granulosus
Type specimen: C.I.T. No. 5118, a mandible (anterior end of a right dentary and four dermal head or body plates). Its type locality is Tapo Canyon (Upper), which is in an Uintan terrestrial horizon in the Sespe Formation of California.
