Type specimen: CNHM (FMNH) UC 674, a partial skeleton (partial skull, vertebrae, limb and girdle elements, ribs). Its type locality is Arroyo del Agua type locality of Edaphosaurus novomexicanus, which is in a Wolfcampian terrestrial horizon in the Abo/Cutler Formation of New Mexico.
