Belongs to Plekonella according to J. B. Waterhouse 1986
Sister taxa: Plekonella acuta, Plekonella campbelli, Plekonella iniquitas, Plekonella multicostata, Plekonella southlandensis
Type specimen: UQF 50882. Its type locality is UQ L3103, Rose's Pride Mine, which is in an Artinskian coastal sandstone/conglomerate in the Buffel Formation of Australia.
