Sister taxa: Lepidocrania sublamellosa, Lepidocrania tardispinosa
Type specimen: USNM 151401, a valve. Its type locality is USNM701c, Wolf Camp Hills, Glass Mountains, which is in an Asselian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Neal Ranch Formation of Texas.
