Type specimens:
- Cryptospirifer omeishanensis: NIGP 4708. Its type locality is Singkaissu, locality TL190, Omeishan, which is in a Wordian carbonate limestone in the Maokou Formation of China.
- Cryptospirifer iranica: UHR 30431. Its type locality is Kuh-e Ali Bashi, upper Verbeekina-Chusenella zone, which is in a Wordian carbonate limestone in the Gnishik Formation of Iran.
