Sister taxon: Heterohyrax brucei

Type specimen: BER I 31'91a, a mandible (right mandible with p3-m2). Its type locality is Berk Aukas Site I, which is in a MN 9 fissure fill breccia in Namibia.

Ecology: scansorial herbivore

Distribution: found only at Berk Aukas Site I
