Belongs to Ithycythara according to W. P. Woodring 1970
Sister taxa: Ithycythara elongata, Ithycythara hexagona, Ithycythara ischna, Ithycythara lanceolata, Ithycythara maera, Ithycythara psila, Ithycythara psiloides, Ithycythara scissa, Ithycythara tarri
Type specimen: USNM 352137, a shell. Its type locality is USGS Loc. 7264 - DeFuniak Cardium beds [Shoal River Fm], which is in a Serravallian marine marl/sandstone in the Shoal River Formation of Florida.
Ecology: epifaunal carnivore
Distribution:
• Miocene of Panama (3 collections), United States (3: Florida)
Total: 6 collections each including a single occurrence
