Type specimens:

  • Chasmatosuchus rossicus: 2252/381 (lectotype, designated by Sennikov, 1995), a set of vertebrae (two articulated dorsal vertebrae). Its type locality is Vakhnevo locality, which is in an Olenekian fluvial sandstone in the Russian Federation.
  • Tsylmosuchus samariensis: PIN 2424/6, a set of vertebrae (Cervical vertebra). Its type locality is Mechet' II (Locality 180), which is in an Olenekian channel sandstone in the Staritskaya Formation of the Russian Federation.
