Sister taxa: Tupuxuara leonardii, Tupuxuara longicristatus

Type specimen: SMNK PAL 6410, a partial skull. Its type locality is Santana do Cariri (general), which is in an Aptian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal shale in the Romualdo Formation of Brazil.

Ecology: volant piscivore

Distribution: found only at Santana do Cariri (general)
