Sister taxa: Volsellina areiensis, Volsellina carinata, Volsellina equatorialis, Volsellina ornatissima, Volsellina subelliptica, Volsellina transparens, Volsellina yunnanensis

Type specimen: UQ F74313, a valve (Right valve internal mold). Its type locality is UQ L4594, quarry along highway north of Theodore, Bowen Basin, which is in a Wuchiapingian coastal siliciclastic in the Flat Top Formation of Australia.
