Sister taxa: Stegophiura eocaenus, Stegophiura hagenowi, Stegophiura trispinosa

Type specimen: Holotype O 6495, paratypes O 6496–O 6499, National Museum, Prague. Its type locality is Lafarge Cement Quarry, Úpohlavy, which is in a Turonian offshore wackestone/marl in the Teplice Formation of the Czech Republic.

Ecology: slow-moving low-level epifaunal detritivore-suspension feeder

Distribution: found only at Lafarge Cement Quarry, Úpohlavy
