Belongs to Apidium according to E. L. Simons 1962
Sister taxa: Apidium bowni, Apidium kraeusei, Apidium phiomense, Apidium phiomensis, Apidium zuetina
Type specimen: CGM 26919, a mandible (left dentary preserving p3-m1). Its type locality is Quarry G (Jebel Qatrani Formation) (= "upper sequence"), which is in a Rupelian fluvial sandstone in the Jebel Qatrani Formation of Egypt.
Ecology: arboreal omnivore
Distribution: found only at Quarry G (Jebel Qatrani Formation) (= "upper sequence")
