Sister taxon: Desmatochelys padillai

Type specimen: KUVP 1200, a partial skeleton (Skull, some limb bones and parts of the shell). Its type locality is near Fairbury (Desmatochelys type locality), which is in a Cretaceous marine horizon in the Benton Shale Formation of Nebraska.

Ecology: aquatic omnivore

Distribution:

• Cretaceous of Canada (2: British Columbia collections), Mexico (1), United States (4: Arizona, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota)

Total: 7 collections each including a single occurrence
