Sister taxa: Cacops aspidephorus, Cacops woehri
Type specimen: OMNH 53077, a skull (partially crushed skull without mandibles). Its type locality is Richards Spur, which is in an Artinskian fissure fill claystone/conglomerate in Oklahoma.
Ecology: ground dwelling carnivore
Distribution: found only at Richards Spur
