Sister taxa: Ischyrotoma anataphra, Ischyrotoma borealis, Ischyrotoma eos, Ischyrotoma juabensis, Ischyrotoma sila, Ischyrotoma stubblefieldi, Ischyrotoma twenhofeli, Ischyrotoma wahwahensis

Type specimen: NFM F-178, a cephalon/head. Its type locality is BH-95A-114, which is in a Cassinian peritidal lime mudstone/wackestone in the Catoche Formation of Canada.

Ecology: fast-moving low-level epifaunal deposit feeder

Distribution:

• Ordovician of Canada (1: Newfoundland and Labrador collection), Norway (2)

• Cassinian of Canada (2: Newfoundland and Labrador)

• Jeffersonian of Canada (3: Newfoundland, Newfoundland and Labrador)
