Type specimen: MNHN.F.PRU10, a skeleton (virtually complete skull & skeleton). Its type locality is Paracas Bay, which is in a Priabonian coastal horizon in the Otuma Formation of Peru.

Ecology: aquatic carnivore

Distribution: found only at Paracas Bay
