Sister taxa: Dendrohyrax arboreus, Dendrohyrax dorsalis, Procavia (Dendrohyrax) crawshayi

Type specimen: Bar 961'01, a partial skull (palate with much of the dentition). Its type locality is Aragai - Tugen Hills, which is in a Messinian fluvial siltstone/sandstone in the Lukeino Formation of Kenya.

Ecology: scansorial herbivore

Distribution: found only at Aragai - Tugen Hills
