Sister taxa: Megatypus ingentissimus, Megatypus schucherti, Megatypus vetustus
Type specimen: MCZ 10003, a wing. Its type locality is Elmo, MCZ Wilbur Collection, which is in an Artinskian pond limestone in the Wellington Formation of Kansas.
Ecology:
Distribution: found only at Elmo, MCZ Wilbur Collection
